A visit to Manchester's 'MOSI' (Museum of Science & Industry) is a must for anyone interested in the history of Manchester and how the Industrial Revolution revolutionized the world and created 'MANCHESTER' as the epicentre of the worlds cotton & textile industry. It's from here, where it all started from the machines that spun the cotton, the canals & train system for transport and the very mills they worked in, to the clothes you are wearing today.
Working conditions were horrendous, and child labour was rife. At Joe & Co Denim, we take some inspiration from what we have seen from this era and produce some of the finest luxury work wear, made in the local mills and factories across the NW of England.
C4 produced a series of life in the mill, based on real life stories of textile mill workers, based at Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire during the 1830s ( More to follow on QBM in our next blog post) In the meantime here is a little teaser, at the bottom of this post
Here some images of what it was like during these times
